All About Miss. Nabor!

My name is Nicole Nabor and I will be student teaching in Mrs. Spakausky’s classroom through December. I thought I would just give you a little background information on myself, so you can know a little bit more about me. I am attending Eastern Illinois University and will receive my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in science. I have currently completed all required course work at Eastern and student teaching will be my last step before obtaining my degree.

I currently live in LaGrange, Illinois, with my family. I have two siblings, a 16 year old brother, and a seven year old sister. I believe being the oldest child in my family has let me demonstrate leadership, and responsibility qualities throughout my life, which I believe shows in my personality today.

I have had several achievements that I believe have shaped me as a person and ultimately will make me a better teacher. The most prestigious achievement would be being inducted into Mortar Board, a National Senior Honors Society. Also, being elected as Greek Woman of the Year 2006 for my sorority was a meaningful achievement to me. This was quite an honor in itself because this award stands for someone who exemplifies leadership roles both in and out of their sorority as well as academic excellence, and consistent involvement in not only the sorority but also in the community. I feel that being a member of both organizations has shaped me to become a great leader and has shown me my full potential.

One of the main reasons I want to be a teacher is because of the large impact it will have on my life as well as my students’ lives. Teaching is the most satisfying profession that I could think of and nothing else would make me happier in life. Children are amazing human beings with so much potential and I want to help bring that out in them. I also would like to think that I provide many ways to approach subjects and utilize the various teaching styles to help my students understand as easily as possible. I am teaching for the students so it is important that they are on board with what I am explaining. I am truly looking forward to getting to know your children better and working with them for the next 15 weeks!
